Mijas Costa - It's got it all

What brought you to Spain? The school trip to marvel at museums and art galleries, a family holiday, friends and family, a wedding, or work?

Whatever the reason for your first trip, it will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression.

Spain is famous for its wines, simple and exquisite cuisine and warm welcome.  Contrary to popular belief, it is far from the “mañana” reputation.  Imagine working full time in 40 degrees during July and August?  There is a reason that offices have a siesta in the heat of summer.

Mijas Costa, to the west of Malaga,  sits about 20 minutes from Malaga airport, convenient and perfect for the whole family.

So, what can Mijas Costa offer you as a visitor or indeed to live here?

Restaurants of every type, with wines and fresh produce in abundance.
The history, and authentic architecture will be a feast for your senses, villages and larger commercial towns, always with the local traditions still retained and family life being an integral part of the culture

You can eat inexpensively for the whole family made with locally grown produce, fish brought to market by the fishermen of the villages, meats cooked many ways reflecting the different cultures that have ruled the area.   Or treat yourself to the many fine dining establishments in the area. Take a trip on the Tapas Trail, accompanied by una copita of your favourite wine.  Perfect for unwinding and enjoying each other’s company, just chilling as you people watch.
Walk in the mountains and glory at the magnificent scenery, wildlife whilst breathing fresh, clean air.  If you are lucky, you may even see eagles majestically gliding through the sky.

Parque Aquatico, Fuengirola, Mijas Costa
Go to the Parque Aquatico in Fuengirola (the Water Park), it’s not just for the children, great for the young at heart too!  You can sunbathe, eat or take a picnic.  You can even get a massage whilst your family members hurtle down the giant slide … otherwise known as the Kamikaze, hair raising fun and guaranteed to make you want to run up the steps and do it all over again.
Don’t miss the opportunity whilst here to visit Malaga city.  Famous for the Picasso Museum and lots more for culture vultures.  You can even take in the views from the big wheel, as you slowly rotate enjoying the panoramic views.

Mijas Pueblo
Mijas Pueblo (the village of Mijas), set in the backdrop of the Sierra de Mijas, is a beautiful white washed village, where you can bag a bargain from the many leather and artisan shops, wander the cobbled, narrow streets and rest in one of the many delightful restaurants with food to suit the whole family and a welcome that will bring you back time and time again.
Mijas Costa towns and villages include, Mijas Public, the beach towns of Calahonda to the west of the area, the pretty village of La Cala de Mijas … always a favourite with safe beaches and chiringuitos that are guaranteed to tempt your taste buds, El Faro which houses the lighthouse, the bustling town of Fuengirola with miles of beautiful beaches, and further inland areas guaranteeing tranquillity.
Whether you want bars and nightlife, golf (you will be spoilt for choice), tennis, padel {a cross between tennis and squash},

Markets and retail therapy, or total relaxation, Mijas Costa has it all … in abundance
Typical artisan earthenware available from markets
. If you come once, you are sure to return time and time again.
